Yesterday, as Manbug prepared for a business trip to Dallas, I stayed out of this way by parking myself on the couch to review two precious gems in my DVR line-up: new episodes of The Real Housewives of NYC.
He walked in during one scene when Bethenny was posing with a cocktail shaker and a t-shirt that read "Skinny Girl."
Manbug: Did she used to be fat?
Me: No.
Manbug: Is she a trainer?
Me: No.
Manbug: What does she sell?
Me: Um, different health products and recipes. Oh, and she has a new book out.
Manbug: And she didn't used to be fat?
Me: No - she's "naturally" thin. That's actually the title of her book.
Manbug: Naturally thin? Why the heck is she on this show? That's kind of rude to flaunt it.
Me: She's one of the stars.
Manbug: You watch the dumbest shows.
I was rather perplexed by this conversation until an hour later a light-bulb went off.
Me: You know, that show I was watching before? It wasn't "The Biggest Loser."
Manbug: Ah.

ReplyDeletei'm a little late to the NYC housewives, but I watched the New Jersey preview and I'm totally sold.
I felt so bad for Bethenny in CT. She got totally dissed! Also what the hell Ramona! Yeah Jill is friends with her because she's the underdog. GAH.
ReplyDeleteI now have to banish my husband when I watch my "RH" type shows. It isn't worth his constant snarky commentary over & above the action. Maybe I just need to explain to him the subtle, nuanced differences between the "RH"s and the "Bachelor" . . .

ReplyDeleteSo funny! My husband cringes when Housewives comes on. He runs into the other room. He thinks Ramona is off her rocker, I'd have to agree. Her jewelry sucks ass and there is no way I'd buy any skin care anything from her. How about changing your hairstyle from the 7th grade?...then I might consider thinking you are anything but a moron. :o)
ReplyDeleteNow that is a good miscommunication. Classic. I have to ban Magoo from the room when I watch the Hills because he can not, not comment and it drives me crazy. The RH, though, those ladies he actually likes (not sure why) but he does.
ReplyDeleteI love this! LOL I don't wantch RH though. I watched a couple of episodes of the Orange County one, and then was side-tracked by something else.
